Hannah Jahn for Judge

Meet Hannah

Who Hannah Is & Why She's Running

Hannah Jahn has spent her career working on behalf of the people of Milwaukee.

She is running for Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge to carry that work forward, making sure everyone who walks into her courtroom is met with integrity, consistency, and kindness

“For me, being a judge is not just another job or a promotion, but an opportunity to serve a larger mission.” – Hannah Jahn

Hannah is a Milwaukee attorney who has practiced civil litigation since graduating from Marquette Law School 14 years ago.

For nearly ten years she has served as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Milwaukee, where she works to save taxpayers money in litigation and to keep property assessments across the city fair and equitable. Along the way she became an expert in property assessment law.

Her work for the City has given her a close view of the everyday lives of Milwaukee residents. When she worked with property owners facing tax foreclosure on their own, her goal was simple: make sure each of them met at least one kind and helpful person during one of the hardest moments of their lives.

Hannah knows Milwaukee County’s courts from every angle. She has taken many cases to trial, argued motions, briefed several cases at the Court of Appeals, and served as lead attorney in several civil trials, often as the only woman in the room expected to speak. She has also been a prospective juror and a witness in a felony trial. As judges with civil law experience retire from the bench, Hannah brings the expertise needed to fill that gap.

Hannah believes in democracy and the rule of law. People should be able to trust the legal system to resolve their problems fairly and to protect their rights. She believes a judge serves every resident of the county, not one constituency, and she will come to the bench without favoring either side.

Her vision is a court that is efficient, objective, and respectful, where people understand the process and can expect a well-researched, consistent result. She will treat everyone who comes before her with respect and patience, and she will start with humility, listening to and learning from stakeholders before recommending any changes.

Hannah has earned the respect and trust of Milwaukee’s legal community. She has served on the Board of the Association for Women Lawyers since 2022, served on the Board of the Milwaukee Bar Association, and is a member o f the Thomas E. Fairchild American Inn of Court. As a law student and young attorney, she volunteered regularly with the Marquette Volunteer Legal Clinic and the Milwaukee Justice Center. She supports the local arts as President-Elect of the Board of Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, and volunteers at her local food pantry.

Hannah lives in Bay View with her husband and their daughter. When she’s not working, you can find her at the theatre, biking, or at a Brewers game with her family. She would be honored to serve her neighbors here in Milwaukee County and to earn their trust every day on the bench.
